INSIGHT - Delivering the Next Generation of Activity Based Management in DHL Express
Since the early 1990s, DHL Express has been a leading proponent of Activity Based Management. In the past 15 years, DHL has deployed several iterations of a global costing system. As a critical input to the decision-making process in a highly competitive environment, costing data must be both timely and accurate. DHL Express is currently in the final stages of developing INSIGHT, a brand new global costing system, which for the first time, delivers a truly global, but centrally controlled data warehouse. INSIGHT makes a significant advance in terms of the methodology, processing efficiency and availability of the data critical to drive the business forward and provide a competitive advantage as the global economy emerges from the downturn of 2009. This presentation will examine the aims, technologies and challenges of implementing a global system in a decentralised company and show how the close partnership with Teradata has brought the idea close to reality.
