Sam Harris leads the Teradata ERM program for Industry Marketing & Solutions including Teradata ERM offerings and joint ERM offerings with partners.

Harris joined Teradata after having worked for Microsoft Corporation in the Financial Services Industry Organisation leading enterprise risk management & compliance (ERMC) sales opportunities in the United States for banking, capital markets & insurance. In this role he supported ERMC opportunities including, document management and record retention (SEC 17a-4, HIPPA, PCI, PII, GLBA, etc.), programmatic application of audit and controls (SOX, PII, etc.), and risk analytics & reporting for market risk, credit risk, and operational risk for regulatory and non-regulatory risk measures.

Prior to Microsoft, Harris worked for SAS Institute with focus on risk and compliance business and product issues. He served in Product Management, Product Marketing, Sales-support & Sales roles for on Market Risk, Credit Risk, Credit Scoring, OpRisk, Basel II, SOX, AML, and the Risk Intelligence suite. Harris led product management for Risk Dimensions, the calc engine supporting SAS Credit Risk Management for Banking. He also served as the marketing manager during SAS’ acquisition of OpRisk Analytics and oversaw the integration of the personnel, technology, and OpRisk IP into SAS’ ERM portfolio. Harris also served as Director of Marketing for SAS’ Financial Services Practice which developed the SAS Anti-money laundering solution.

Harris has extensive experience in financial services and with risk management solutions for operational, market and credit risks, as well as credit scoring and credit loss forecasting. Prior to joining SAS, he enjoyed a successful career at Wachovia Bank as a vice president in treasury services.

Harris is an alumnus of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a concentration in Finance.
