Greg has a background that spans both the IT and Business side of working for various companies and hence is best described as a Data Warehouse Business Architect – with the ability to translate and transfer business challenges into IT designs. Additionally, he has applied his IT knowledge to discover and develop opportunities for applying the power of DW technology to leading edge business purposes.
Has worked for both IBM Global Business Intelligence Solutions group (3 years) and Teradata in Europe (4 years), and (December 2003) returned to Australia after 7 years of working in Europe, based in London UK.
Joined Teradata in London in 1996, with the team that pioneered and established the ‘Financial Industry DW solutions group’ within Teradata.
Prior to 1996, worked for 7 years for State Government Electricity Commission of Victoria, 2 years for Government Ministry of Housing.
He worked for 8 years at State Bank Victoria and the Commonwealth Bank of Australia (CBA). At CBA he led the evaluation and ‘proof of concept’ Teradata project, focussing on CRM and Channel analytics, which followed on to the successful production DW environment, and now encompasses financial management.
He is passionate about data, and more importantly, the nature of detail data, and how the business functions and applications can draw together the power out of that data. He is experienced when it comes to data models (from multiple vendor perspectives), and can translate this knowledge to all levels of a business; i.e. from data base designers, to data architects, to application specialists, to end users, and to business executives.
Greig has considerable knowledge and deep working experience, for both IBM’s financial industry data models, and Teradata’s financial industry data model.
Greig is recipient of the Teradata Knowledge Star award, and also achieved the Teradata Consulting Excellence award.
