Barclays use of TASM to manage Ad hoc Business Users & Batch Workloads
This presentation provides attendees with the ability to understand how Barclays Bank implemented TASM to satisfy competing business and operational/batch requirements on Teradata.
The problem - 1500 business users, from different business units within the Bank, running up to a million ad hoc queries daily, with the ability to create/drop database objects and run load/unload utilities with a variety of tools. Batch/operational user loading to 700 databases on either a daily/weekly/monthly basis. Response times varied between day-to-day.
The solution - TASM
The presentation will cover how the workload was assessed and workloads assigned, to fine-tuning of the implementation, lessons learnt, on-going user maintenance, and reporting of TASM effectiveness.
Key Points:
- Barclays Bank's use of TASM
- Migrating from PSF to TASM
- Fine tuning TASM once its installed
