Data Warehousing in a Virtual World: Cloud Computing and Beyond

Virtualization is an increasingly important foundation for cost effective deployment of data warehousing capability. This workshop will trace the evolution of virtualization technologies in the context of data warehousing and will extrapolate toward future developments in this area. Different flavours of both public and private cloud computing will be discussed along with their tradeoffs. Experience with Amazon's Elastic Cloud Computing (EC2) environment for large scale data warehousing will be described.
