"Accelerating The Delivery of BI and analytics insights in the new Government Paradigm"

Since the Gershon Review, there is a greater emphasis placed on transparency and measurement in Government than ever before. Prior to Gershon, delivering the information and insight on Government services, policies and portfolios was a challenge in itself. With efficiency dividends being reaped and great transparency being sought, the capability to deliver faster and more effectively is a long-term requirement.

Responding to this call and providing greater insights into organisational ROI and efficiencies is part of the challenge. This session will explore how EDW is a key pillar in support of the Government’s quest for better efficiency and effectiveness and how agencies can deliver faster and more effectively to meet these new demands.

This session includes a discussion on the particular challenges faced by Government, best practice cases of what other organisations are doing to deliver rapid, repeated and demonstrable value and insight to stakeholders and how these practices can be tailored to fit the needs of Government agencies.

Panel Discussion

  • Identify the challenges faced by Government agencies specifically with regard to development models, cultural change, skills gaps, contracts, and product mixes to derive value.
  • Discuss how other industries deliver fast and effective insights and measure performance and how that applies to Government.

    • The Brobst Model: succeed fast or fail early
    • Agile development cycles and prototyping
    • “The people in power or power to the people?” Access strategies to empower, self service and new skills expectations
    • Measurement through benchmarking studies and EDW-enabled mechanisms
    • Transparency from services, to people, to finances, to contracts
    • Data Warehouse maturity assessment – benchmark against best practice.
    • Where should government be in regard to benchmarks?

The session seeks to provide a specific set of strategies, both applications and technical, to achieve this objective.

Key takeaways:

  1. Ways to improve your capability to deliver fast and effective insights through your Data Warehouse
  2. Highlight what changes your organisation will need to take in order to adapt to the new government paradigm of transparency and measurement
  3. How to build enough insight into efficiency and effectiveness to justify and secure re-investment
