Dean has been involved with information technology for 28 years in a variety of industries including law enforcement and local government, insurance, and retail. He has spent most of his career in the trenches of software development as a lead technologist, data designer, and solution provider.
For the past 3 years, he has worked in the Cabela's Marketing Department as the liaison between the business users and the Information Systems team developing a world class Enterprise Data Warehouse based on Teradata technology. Dean has a passion to apply technology to meet business problems and looks for solutions that exceed expectations. He believes that the Teradata solution has delivered upon the promise to deliver a highly effective Data Warehouse tool. The EDW has become an essential technology tool to provide business intelligence for the Cabela's team.
Cabela's EDW - Evolving with the Business
Over the past decade, Cabela's Inc., has evolved its strategy from a direct marketer centered on their catalog business to a leading multi-channel retailer. During that time, the data warehouse team struggled to keep up with growing business requirements. Cabela's needed a best-in-class EDW to meet the demands of a dynamic business model.
The Teradata retail logical data model, the Teradata system and software along with new processes and methodologies were key in enabling the data warehouse team to deliver an Enterprise Data Warehouse that allowed the company to analyse all channels of its business. End-users have seen significant improvements in query time, the business is able to analyse data in new ways and the EDW team is able to deliver new functionality in less time to give the business the information it needs to focus on growing its multi-channel strategy.
